Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik addresses similarities between its poster and climax and Harry Potter and Stranger Things: ‘We did not realise it honestly’ | Hindi Movie News
“If I have to be honest, I have not watched ‘Harry Potter’. My team has watched and they keep telling me and advising me if any scene is even remotely similar to the ones in other series,” Kaushik told India Today.
Speaking about Stranger Things, Kaushik mentioned that while he had watched the series, many of the scenes in Stree 2 were influenced by deep cultural roots. He explained that the climax, where Vicky demonstrates his goodness to remove the sword, felt like a natural progression for the character. In the first film, it was Vicky’s innocence that enabled him to confront the spirit of Stree, and Rajkummar Rao’s character didn’t possess any supernatural powers, with his kindness and innocence being his true strengths.

As for the poster, which many felt was too similar to Stranger Things, Kaushik admitted, “We did not realise it honestly. The designer made it, we liked it and we later realised that it was quite similar. I know the audience is more intelligent than the filmmaker. They will catch plagiarism. So, I know what the audience feels but the intention was not to copy. It was co-incidental. Had I known, we would have avoided it.”
Stree 2 features a stellar cast, including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurrana, with special appearances by Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia, who performed Aaj Ki Raat song in the film.
