Kalyani Priyadarshan headlined, Dulquer Salmaan backed and Dominic Arun directed Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra continues to make new records at the box office. It has already become the highest grossing Malayalam film across the globe beating Prithviraj and Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan, it also became only the 3rd film to cross Rs 100 crore collection just from Kerala and it is also the highest grossing female led film from South of India beating Keerthy Suresh’s Mahanati.And now the film has put another feature in its cap as it takes the 11th spot in the biggest hit of 2025 displacing Ram Charan and Shankar’s Game Changer which released at the start of the yearIn 26 days that the film has been running at the box office the film has collected Rs 139.05 crore as per Sacnilk, thereby occupying the 11th spot in the list of highest films of Indian Cinema in 2025. The spot was earlier held by Ram Charan’s Game Changer, directed by S Shankar. The film was about an honest IAS officer and he goes around pushing the corrupt and how a single man brings improvement in the election process of the country. The film had gone to collect Rs 131.2 crore at the box office. It took one of the biggest openings at the box office but due to lack of cohesive script and screen play- the film failed to cash on to it. The journey for Lokah is far from over, Dulquer Salmaan shared on his Twitter profile that the film won’t be releasing on the OTT in the near future.Trade believes that the success of the film has made sure that the film release on OTT only after the 8th week- which has usually been the deal with successful films across languages especially Hindi. Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra is a part of a 5 part series backed by Dulquer where second part will feature Tovino Thomas, third part will have Dulquer himself and 4th part will be led by Mammootty and 5th will have all of them together.
